  1. Thought it was a good show in the end but Steamworld Heist 2 was a bit of an anticlimax - I had tried to keep my expectations in check but with all the ratings it really did seem like it was time for Silksong so I couldn't help feeling disappointed with the 'one more thing' announcement this time. Very happy to see Lorelei and the Laser Eyes coming so soon, Sayonara Wild Hearts is one of the best games of the last few years so I'm excited to see what they do next. Weirdly the second best announcement for me was Wayforward's Yars Rising - I've never played any original Atari games so have no fondness for any of their titles but I thought this new Metroidvania take on the series looked super cool.
  2. I feel like Silksong might be too big for this but I won't argue with a shadow drop - would undoubtedly be the biggest shadow drop ever if it happens I'm with @Dcubed on the Mina the Hollower hype - feel like that's one I would jump into immediately whereas Silksong seems like much more of a time commitment.
  3. Football Season 2023/24

Both Nolan and Guardiola are utter bores who are absolutely full of themselves. The fact he couldn't win the Champions League while at Bayern Munich is proof enough that Guardiola is a bald fraud UTV!
  4. Football Season 2023/24

I mean, he did rape a woman - not really sure how much more of his reputation there is left to tarnish
  5. Football Season 2023/24

@Julius The Belgium away kit is a tribute to Tintin, it's supposed to echo his iconic outfit - I think it looks pretty cool!
  6. Princess Peach Showtime (March 22 2024)

It wouldn't have been that annoying if they had made it clear early on that finding all the Toads was required, at least then I would have known to seek them out a bit more than I had been
  7. Princess Peach Showtime (March 22 2024)

I agree with @Glen-i, I played through Super Princess Peach for the first time a few weeks ago and didn't think much of it. It's a pleasant enough platformer but there is a lot of busy work. I think the recent GVG gaming video about it was presented in an overly harsh way but I agree with him that it feels very frustrating to reach the final boss and be told you need to collect all the toads before you can take him on. Felt like an imposition to have to go back through all the other levels to find the ones that I'd missed, I definitely enjoyed Showtime more out of the two
  8. Princess Peach Showtime (March 22 2024)

Finished this last night and overall I was pleasantly surprised with the game. From the impressions a few weeks ago I assumed it was going to be absurdly easy but there was actually more challenge than I expected, it still wasn't difficult by any means but it wasn't as breezy as I'd been led to believe. The different costumes add a lot of variety to the gameplay and I can imagine Peach's moveset in the next Smash game is going to be hugely expanded based on the abilities she has here. Some of the costumes are a real joy, the Ninjitsu and Phantom Thief especially giving Peach more satisfying movement options, but I really didn't get on with the Baker or (to a lesser extent) the Detective. At times Showtime weirdly reminded me of Bayonetta 3 and Cereza & the Lost Demon - it has such a stylish and smooth presentation at times, even if there are one or two technical issues. There is definitely a lot of potential left in the basic concept of Showtime too so it wouldn't surprise me if this becomes an ongoing series, it's about time Peach had her own continuing franchise.
  9. Resident Evil IX

I think it could work for an RE game to let the player go anywhere they like from the start, as long as the map is relatively small, but it would still be a complete upheaval of conventions of a series that isn't really in need of an overhaul or reimagining.
  10. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

DF seem to think it won't be too much of a price increase (around £100 more than the base PS5) so I guess I was wrong on that score. The PSSR definitely seems like the only interesting addition but probably won't be enough to get me to upgrade - I only play a handful of games on my PS5 each year as it is so I don't think it would make sense for me to buy the Pro.
  11. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

I think it might be even more expensive than that
  12. Another Code Recollection (19th January 2024)

What's the here consensus on the remake? I just played through these this week, having played through the DS original once back at launch and the Wii sequel once in 2016, and despite being a bit rough in places I thought it was a really good job by Arcsys. The design of Ashley and most of the other main characters look great, there are some lovely looking visuals at times across both games, but the environments sometimes leave a lot to be desired. In the open spaces of the second game especially the textures of the buildings and landscapes can be quite flat and blurry - they wouldn't look out of place in a budget PS2 game. The voice acting can also be a bit hit and miss, characters like Ashley are great but some of the others feel a bit phoned in. Overall though it's a big upgrade over the originals, hope that it manages to sell reasonably well as it would be great to get another entry down the line - there's definitely scope to catch up with Ashley 10 years later (or they could just give the Hotel Dusk games the same treatment)
  13. It was more of a "Oh, cool" sort of Direct than anything earth shattering. Glad to see more Rare stuff coming to the online service, especially Blast Corps as I've always intended to play that. Might check out Monster Hunter Stories, but I think I'll definitely get Penny's Big Breakaway sooner rather than later. I'm a bit confused on Endless Ocean though, is it online only? The trailer leaned heavily on the multiplayer aspect, made me worry it was more of a live service style game than the single player exploration the series is known for. Oh and the rogue like procedural generation is disappointing too.
  14. General Switch Discussion

To be honest there isn't much difference to me between Nov '24 and early '25 so I don't think I would be too bothered. If it is true though then Nintendo will have to announce some games pretty soon, their release calendar is looking pretty light for the rest of the year

That means it's going to be a banger - flaming Chibi Robo to make his triumphant return
