Default News: High Voltage Making Wii U Game

Conduit 3 anyone? ...anyone?

High Voltage revealed on their official website that they are a registered developer for Wii U though they haven't shed light on what titles they have lined up for the system just yet.

High Voltage have recently released Captain America: Super Soldier though they are most famous among Nintendo gamers for making the Conduit series.

The Conduit games often split opinion between Wii gamers. Many praised High Voltage for their determination to make a good looking shooter on Wii with online capabilities whilst many others criticized it's fairly generic story, locations and characters.

Either way, if High Voltage could squeeze out some fairly nice looking locations on the Wii then they will surely make some grand (and hopefully less bland) locations when equipped with a Wii U and all of it's fancy HD capabilities.

Would you like to see a new Conduit title from High Voltage or a brand new title altogether? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.

I'd love Conned-U-it Thwii and a few brand newunz pleaaaaaaze

Fair enough these dudes could do with more creativity and perhaps some more experience, but I love these dudes because they aren't afraid to jump off of the predictable rule-book page and try new and exciting stuff - which is 'fun'.

I'm a fan and High Voltage are so electrifying!

@kav82 do you wanna join my #Trust Clan% when this comes out buddy? I'm so happy I feel like I'm gonna die

@Fused King let's shoot the clouds in celebration. Salute, bro!

They need to add much improved creative forces to their ranks on all levels, otherwise, don't bother. They did well on the Wii in the technical department and deserve acclaim, but the WiiU will be an HD powerhouse, so any efforts ala Conduit on the Wii, will be seen as utterly average in every respect.

They seem to have highly competent programmers there so maybe, if possible, they could merge with a highly creative small indi outfit to add balance.

I'm not keen on the IP either; get rid for now and start a-fresh.

I don't think people are particularly split on the game in this way. I think all people can - and do - admire HVS determination, their dedication really does deserve praise - I don't think anyone really disputes this. Such a refreshing attitude from a Wii developer.

I think where people are split is on the execution of the game itself; some people are happy to let some of the weaker elements slip and just enjoy the game as a bit of a throwback, whilst others appreciate the more modern take on the genre.

I haven't got round to playing C2, but I really enjoyed the original; many hours spent online. And at the time of release there really was nothing like it on the platform.

Er... except for the superior World at War and Medal of Honour Heroes 2. Which, as I said earlier, were far better online games.

All they need to do is make the single player play as well as Goldeneye's single player (and of course more creative locales/stories etc) and make the online set up more like Black Ops or MW3.

Support for Wiimote/Nunchuck controls are also a must

"All they have to do is make it a completely different game."

Ah, opinions, opinions, opinions. How I love the smell of those in the morning.

I think David.Dakota put it best.

Personally, I really liked 1 and 2 even more so, but I do agree that it probably has some flaws when one compares it to shooter franchises which have been around for years and years.
I just liked the silly storyline and the artstyle, and I really feel that Conduit 3 could really benefit from the WiiU. I mean, the graphics were amazing the first time I saw them on the Wii. Conduit in HD, along with the extra horsepower the WiiU will grant HVS, would happily have me kick butt with all the

online
Of course, something new would also be nice, but I seem to recall that HVS were really determined to stick with the Conduit franchise. They even had it running on the 3DS one time.

@Beverage, I'm Wii U pal!

Here's what I think will happen.

The Grinder shows up at E3 2012 for Wii U and is announced to be launch window title. Still a shooter, and with all the crazy online features people have come to expect from games like Left 4 Dead.

This'd be the realy feather in HV's cap.

I was done with World War II games 10 years ago.

As an overall package, I'd say The Conduit is still pretty unique compared to these. It nicely breaks from the WWII convention, HVS really embraced Wii features with the inclusion of WiiSpeak and motion and the level of customisation is, still, impressive. The story was well played out, and the layers of hidden narrative displayed an understanding of what turns a Nintendo fans crank.

That's not to say the above are bad games, in fact I'd agree that they are better but I think the Conduit is still a more unique game.

That was actually the best looking thing they ever came up with! Shame it never happened. I was actually pretty hyped for it when it was first shown. My interest levels dropped to zero when the XBOX360 version was shown and it was an overhead arcade shooter.

Well, if you're simply saying The Conduit is 'unique', I will have to agree! I still think the controls were better on WAW though!

I must also say, I didn't think the conduit was bad, just average. Which kinda annoyed me as there was so many things they could've easily copied from other shooters that would have improved it - like not having 20 minute matches with rocket launchers.
