One point about that video: blu-ray isn't going to die any time soon. Blu sales are rising.

There'll always be a healthy portion of the market who want the best in picture and sound and we're a long way off downloads or streams providing that. Big HD sets really expose the smeariness DVD and even some so-called HD low-bitrate streams.

Of course it's true that the PS3 is no longer the "go-to" for blu. There are better players on the market for less and decent ones, even from Sony themselves, for fifty quid and less.

I think that's all rather peripheral though for the PS brand.

some very interesting points in that video, i've always wondered how will MS/Sony sell a next gen console? I've always known that we will reach a glass ceiling with the perceived jump between generations, Nintendo may have it right with trying to bring in new ways to play, because the jump between graphical perception is at a point where the average consumer won't feel the need to upgrade.

The developer doesn't even have to be real. Just make up a name on the spot, sent the information to IGN and wait for the lols.

Yeah surely it's black ops 2, hasn't that sort of been confirmed, but not officially? Though it would surprise me if w ejust it mw3 with gamepad extras...

As for people not seeing the benefits if upgrading, fact is, they'll be forced to to play the games they want to play. Simple as that really. It does sort of feel unnecessary for another console, but it'll happen, and the only way to play nchared 4, halo 5 or whatever is to upgrade, and people will. Mobile will not be that big for a while yet, people want proper controls.

Black Ops 2 is a tricky one to announce and make a big deal out of as they can't demo it or show any screenshots due to Microsoft having exclusivity regarding screenshots and footage.

What a rediculous set up! Do Activision know they have one of the biggest franchises in history and they really don't need such a stupid approach to pre-release marketing?

Were basically back to the Wii COD releases that are just shat out with no publicity; if this deal exists doesn't it basically prohibit Activision from showing any added features for WiiU (assuming there are some)?

I don't know what happened with Monster Hunter...

But wasn't the issue with AAI 2 that he was trying to get it localised in some way or form, but kept being shot down by his superiors?

There's loads of bullshit that came out of him, but the one that really comes to mind immediately was when they were talking about why AAI2 wasn't getting localised and Sven claimed that the first AAI game sold worse than Okamiden, when we found out later that it actually sold better than that game and roughly the same as Apollo Justice.

Yeah, the guy is a massive troll. He also teased The Last Ranker being brought to the west as well. The guy wants to keep his mouth shut as he does nothing but annoy the fans.

I have no doubt in my mind that Capcom will have stuff for the Wii
U, i'm just hoping it's something substantial rather than spinoffs.

I would love to see Zack and Wiki 2, Monster Hunter HD and a Resident Evil 2 remake. I would also be happy for games like Resident Evil 6 and DmC to arrive. Oh, and if EX Troopers doesn't come to the Wii U then something is up.

I'd love to see any and all of those, but if they are gonna support the Wii U then I think the most likely 2 port candidates are actually EX Troopers and Resident Evil Revelations.

The Wii U is the only console that could replicate the 3DS' two screen setup and neither of them rely majorly on Streetpass, S3D (RE:R's 3D was throwaway really. A nice effect but nothing more - hardly like porting SM3DL!) or the exact screen gap that you get with the DS/3DS. Not to mention that RE:R was an expensive bomb and I'm sure that Capcom would like to re-coup some of those costs!

They can explain how it works on the gamepad but I doubt they would be allowed to show Wii U footage of the game before its release.

I'm sure I read they paid $50 million to get exclusivity on game footage shown, 3 month advance DLC etc for 3 years (which covers Black Ops, MW3 & Black Ops 2). If you notice, for all the trailers, the 360 logo appears at the end.

I'm at a loss that anyone DOESN'T know about the Microsoft exclusivity deal with Activision over COD by now. Every year at E3 COD is the central pillar to Microsoft's E3 show, what's more EVERY advert on TV or in mags is never branded with anything but the 360 logo.

Also, the deal covered MW2 as well. I remember the E3 where the MS show started with Soap climbing up the ice cliff and infiltrating the russian base.

Activision recently said that they make more money per DLC release than most companies make on full retail releases of a main title. COD is a beast and the DLC (which really came into force thanks to Treyarch in WAW) has made the games an all year money spinner.

Has Amazon Leaked Wii U Box Art?

New Wii U box art for Ubisoft titles Assassin's Creed III, Marvel's The Avengers: Battle for Earth and Just Dance 4 have surfaced on Amazon.ca.

Although these images may still be placeholders, what do you think of the blue and yellow half-circle splash?

No official comment on the art has been made as of yet from Nintendo or Ubisoft.
