Wii U General Discussion

Recommended Posts

I'm worried about Starfox, although mainly for its legacy. It's probably got just as many mediocre/average/bad games in its series as it does excellent. How long can we realistically call it a respected Nintendo series when, imo, the last great one was on the N64?

That's just how good that game was I guess. Even after nearly 20 years, it's probably still best in class too. Crazy. I think people see the potential in a modern version of starfox 64, they've tried to change things up too much when all we want is an arcade shoot em up with those glorious characters!

StarFox needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into being a relevant series again. It had SO much potential to fill a gap in Nintendo's library and appeal to a much wider audience. I don't feel that's under Miyamoto's control though.

I still remember the video @Jamba posted, as to what a StarFox multiplayer could be

As for the single player, I saw this trailer for Eve: Valkyrie the other day. Imagine blasting off in your Arwing like this!

Oh if only you Nintendo would do a 4 player co-op squad based story mode.

I've not played a better game of that type since. There is TONS of potential there and it baffles me how we've not seen another one like it since. Adventures was not what we wanted, whilst Assault and Command were bleeeeh. Just give the fans what they want!

I totally agree. Although...

4 player co-op story based modes

Massive online dog fights

You're NEVER going to get those with Nintendo, I'm afraid. We've wanted this stuff for years and we're nowhere near getting it.

Apparently Eve: Valkyrie is coming to PS4. Uses the VR headset.

Fuck your dreams. I'll take reality! Another to add to the list.

Played Eve Valkyrie with Oculus at EGX. Soul-less and boring, relying on spectacle instead of gameplay

Wouldn't surprise me if both became a part of Starfox though

That's certainly something I saw happening straight after E3 last year  I'm hoping it all comes together in a way that surprises a few people :heh:

As for the release schedule, I'm amazed just how quickly some of you burn through games and are immediately onto the next big thing. I'm actually finding the Wii U output to be just about perfect for my current needs as it gives me time to catch up on some older gems whilst providing me with an outstanding new experience every few months :hehe:

I'm probably as intrigued as anyone to see what Next Level Games and Retro Studios have up their sleeves. Hopefully we'll find out about one, or both, soon. I'd be absolutely delighted with a new Mario Strikers and Metroid Prime for Wii U and am going to predict that we actually see the former released in Q3 2015.. which would be AWESOME ;)

Rumour + salt.

Nintendo Direct April 1st supposedly.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1020040

Iwata apologizes again for the Zelda delay and announced a new title for Wii U, which will release in Winter 2015 instead:

Paper Mario (working title): first trailer shown, uses the best parts of the first four titles of the series, developed by Intelligent Systems, more infos at E3 2015.

Pokemon Rumble World will be presented, releases on April 17th 2015 in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The game supports the Pokemon amiibo from the Smash Bros. Collection.

SNES titles will be released in the 3DS eShop, the Wii U eShop will get GB und GBC titles. There will also be some cross-play for VC titles already bought and which are available on both systems. (My note: If you bought one game on the 3DS, you can also play it on your Wii U. No need to buy it twice.)

The SNES, GB and GBC titles will be released after the presentation.

The Web eShop will be presented. Developed by Nintendo and DeNA. You can log in with your NNID and use the normal eShop functions. If the console is in stand-by, games bought on the eShop will be automatically downloaded. The Web eShop will implemented both the Wii U and 3DS eShop. Planned launch: April 2015.

New functions for the eShop: Pre-orders. Customers will be able to buy games months in advance and will get a 10% discount. The amount will be charged on launch day or the day the pre-load starts. The first games will be available following the presentation:

amiibo Gallery will be presented. With this app, gamers can use their amiibo already used on the console, to look at them in a gallery. There you can take pictures of them and show them in Miiverse. There is also a mode called Origins. When you scan the amiibo via the NFC reader, you'll be able to play a segment of the first game the amiibo appeared in. (My note: If you scan Link, you should be able to play a part of the first Legend of Zelda is my understanding of this.) This app will be available for free in May 2015 for Wii U and 3DS.

N64 games will be available in June 2015 in the Wii U eShop. Release list:

  • June 4th: Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (If you buy one of the games until June 11th 23:59 MEZ, you get the other for free.)

Project Zero 5 will be localised, will release later this year in Europe.

NES Remix Pack (retail) will release on June 5th in Europe.

Boy-Boy! releases on April 8th in the 3DS eShop.

The app Collectable Badge Center will be available for 3DS after the presentation.

Yokai Watch will be localised and release later this year in Europe.

Shibata says good bye and lets Iwata speak once again.

StarFox Horizon is shown with the first trailer, developed by Nintendo EAD with Platinum Games (please don't spam Kamiya if it's true, just wait). Will be released in Q3 2015, more information at E3.

One of the most ridiculous things I've read, why even post it all out :)

And NES Remix retail?! Hasn't that already been released? Lies straight out the gate.

It hasn't been released in Europe and this is a European leak supposedly. I would also add that this weeks eShop releases which were just announced this morning would lend credence to this rumour.

@Wii there's a lot on that list that is actually quite believable.

I love Direct time. The hype train is awesome. :D

It's all believeable. There's nothing outrageous.

Regarding MK8.

seperate screens for local 2 player games: One on the GamePad, one on the TV

That would be a real nice addition.

Oh it's all believable, but the sheer volume of it makes it slightly ridiculous. And 2 player mario kart on separate devices doesn't sound like an easy update. Also, wasn't this taken from a youtube comment or something?

And I thought nES Remix DID come out... Hero did't you buy it?

It came out in the States and Japan, but definitely didn't have a retail release here in Europe, yet.

If Sonic All Star Racing Transformed could do it and that was a launch game then why not MK8?

Sonic All Star Racing made sacrifices in frame rate etc. to get it working

Why can't SNES and GB©/GBA games come both to the WiiU and the 3DS?

Surely they're both powerful enough to run enough, why the disparity?
