News: Flagship Is No More!

Posted by Joćo Lopes - May 19th 2007 02:40

Capcom's subsidiary, Flagship will cease to exist from the 1st of June forward. Keep reading for details.

Some of you might not know Flagship, but it's the studio that developed portable Zelda games like Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Minish Cap and A Link to the Past remake.

Capcom will merge with the studio and then dissolve them, but they say that none of Flagship's employees will be fired and that they'll still be working as they were before.

Let's hope that all of Flagship's talented developers will indeed keep giving us great games and that this (odd) decision won't affect the quality of their work.

First Clover, then Flagship. Is Capcom in financial trouble?

Woah woah woah, I seriously hope this is just a technical matter and affects nothing at all, because the oracle games were absolutely amazing! And of course, having LttP on the go isn't a bad thing neither!

There were rumors that Capcom was having Financial trouble.

Capcom have said that they want to move away from "named teams" such as Clover and now Flagship. They want a single pool of talent and will then assign people to specific development projects, as and when needed; at the moment, people have been employed by one subsidiary company, it then becomes difficult, administration-wise, to bring them onboard another project.

YenRug, the problem is, Clover employees quit from Capcom, no doubt because these measures take a little independence from the studios.

Idiots. You could tell from the games mentioned that this company/division whatever you want to call it was good with what they were doing. The Oracle of Ages/Seasons games were fantastic. I see this going the same way as Clover, with the employees leaving to start their own independant company.

Only the name is no more. The employees are still being kept on at Capcom.

I blame P.N.03... it is totally irrelevant but I still blame P.N.03.

Jamie> Everybody blames P.N.03. For everything bad. Ever.

Anyways, hopefully this won't affect Nintendo's possibilities of borrowing their talent in the future.
