The anticipated Suda 51 game gets a slight delay in the mysterious land of Europe...

The much anticipated assassin game by Goichi Suda starring Travis Touchdown has had a slight delay in Europe. The game is already released in the US and Japan and was due for a European release in a matter of weeks - though it has got delayed for another week. The game is now scheduled to be release in Europe on March 7th instead of the the previous date, 29th February.

After buying a beam katana from an online auction, set in Santa Destroy, otaku Travis Touchdown eventually enters the United Assassin Association to become the top assassin, but to do so he needs to take out the 10 assassins above him. The game is also censored like the Japanese edition.

N-Europe also had a Q&A session with the main man himself which can be found here. Stick to N-Europe for future release dates.

Slap in the gore. Horefully.

No gore = No point...

I'm not saying it makes or breaks the game but it's just pointless that just because it's on the Wii they choose to take out the gore. >>'

Quite frankly it's insulting and besides what are ratings for? If a game has blood etc then it gets taken into account in the ratings so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyways I can't see any other reason why it would be delayed, unless they are going full circle and are gonna replace the beam-sword with a feather duster or something as equally ludicrous. :P

Not gonna happen, Suda has already explained it was a personal, artistic choice. That being said, I can't understand why he wouldn't just put an option in to let us choose =/

Also, this delay seems kind of unfair - no matter how small it is - as we've already had to wait for ages and "we" actually did a decent job buying the other 3rd party jewel, Zack & Wiki. Let's hope this one does (even) better.

"just because it's on the Wii they choose to take out the gore. >>'"

It was never on another console, it has blood in the US version (so it's not a console thing) and Suda said it was an artistic choice, and considers the US version to be the odd one out.

Artistic choice my ass, It's obvious the real reason is Suda51 is running scared from his own 'more violent than manhunt 2' speech and the subsequent banning of that game across europe.

What's pissing me off more is hearing smug yanks boasting about getting the game uncut. I'd have preferred a worldwide censor job to this.

One more note, and something that's really been burning me up of late, in the name of all that is holy, why is content even an issue on a system with a built-in parental lock?!

I've been crossing the days off my calendar since november, this is not FAIR *cries*

No More Censorship in videogames please. Its absolute nonsense. You see the content in a lot of movies and television series out there? Game violence has ABSOLUTELY nothing on it...

Perhaps they realised the blood had been accidentally left in, so need an extra week to quickly remove it :O

I bet, to add more insult to injury, the game won't sell well, so it'll get ported to Xbox 360 with redone graphics, new control scheme and blood worldwide. :P

Ok so it might not happen but if it perfomrs dismally in sales because of the apparent lack of gore then I really wouldn't be surprised if this happened...

I find it most upsetting if people feel a game will underperform if there is less blood.

Anyway, reports suggest that Japanese and European versions run noticeably smoother than their American counterpart due to the removal of blood. So there's something for people to think about.

First, what is the picture on the main page? hmmm?

Well, I'm frankly sick of delays in Europe >:(
I'm not going to get this game, and its only a week but I'm just plain annoyed at all the delays
Maybe the U.K. and Ireland should have American release dates seeing as we all speak English...

Most of you are missing Sudas point, the blood wasnt taken out of the Japanese and Euro releases, it was added in to the US edition. This is why the game runs noticably slower when the screens fills with carnage, it was put there so that dumb americans would buy a game just because it had blood in it. Im shocked at the amount of people boycotting it because Suda chose to give us the original version, its not like its mortal kombat where the blood is needed for fatalitys and the like.

In some ways I'm unhappy that it's been delayed. But it's only a week so it's not excessive. I am quite happy about the delay though as the 29th was bad timing for me seeing as I'm going out on the 28th to a concert and so i wouldn't have any money for it the next day. Now I will have money to buy it.

@ kagato, actually I do believe him saying that the American version was his closest version to the original and blood was supposed to be there from the start

I understand its Suda 51s intellectual property and they can take it in whatever direction they see fit, but ultimately: Blood = Mature = Sales.

He did state (As Nintendo-master2 said) that the American version was closest to his original idea and plan for NHM. If you look at the comparison videos where it shows the gore version and the version with the black clouds side by side, you will see that the version with the blood is much better looking.
I would normally not mind, but the black cloud thing really detracts from the game, and the moves he performs to kill the others look ridiculous without the blood.
