Japanese logos for both games.

No further details were announced other than the game will be released this fall in Japan, although the website talks about new features from the latest Pokémon games. Stay tuned if you wanna catch'em all again!

Excellent (and nice logos!).

Here's hoping that they'll:

a) get released over here
b) will have all the features / events that everyone else gets (like that Rotom event which seems to have been forgotten about for Platinum).

I'm looking forward to these, but I'm guessing it'll be next year before we get them :( .

This announcement made my day. This is something I've been waiting for since Nintendo announced leaf green/fire red.

Man I was hoping for a Pokémon MMO, walk around challenging people to battles, missions involving taking down Team Rocket or Auqa, maybe something like the Orange League in the cartoon (Pokémon surfing)... Who knows, there's so much they could do with an MMO with this franchise, here's hoping they do someday.

Really happy about this one. Not because GSC are my favourite (they're not, not after DPP), but because it's a nostalgic value mixed up with new content from the latest game.

As well finally getting Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi legits (that I know of… GTS can be funny), as well the 3 dogs not from Colosseum.

I don't know which version to get, tho.

Wow this looks like Platinum:

Jap release: September this year.
US release: March next year
EU release: May next year.

(Not based on facts, just on the release pattern of Nintend)

From what my friends tell me, these were the damn finest Pokémon games ever released.

Looking forward for them to be even finer.

You said it POD!
The link between Kanto and Johto was a brilliant move. 16 badges and a greater region than just Hoenn or just that other region which I forgot.

Hopefully one day they'll combine them all in an all-out pokémon extravaganza

I have to say that, altho GSC have Kanto, it's not really the whole thing again. Most things are locked, and there's nothing to do besides going to the gyms and get badges, and go to the ultra dungeon and fight Red (and find out his Pikachu is female). You do that in, 2 hours max… Nothing much. It ends up being really uninteresting.

FireRed and LeafGreen's Sevii islands even take more time, and the battle island in DP is even bigger. Altho I'd expect a better Kanto to be present in these remakes, I'd honestly prefer a new unseen area. Something that would link Sinnoh region to Johto, for example, would be interesting.

Good news. Gold/Silver were probably Pokemon's finest hour. It's a shame the series has rather lost the plot since then.

I guess I'm the only one a little underwhelmed by this. I was hoping for something new that would bring the series further. Are we going to be playing D/P remakes in years from now?

Oh well, maybe next generation.

I honestly can't say with certainty which games of the series I prefered. The GBA ones I didn't play as much, but honestly I liked them all and I certainly enjoy the "unnecessary" features present in the latest games. Gold/Silver did have the advantage of letting you go through 16 gyms, but it's still not clear cut. With that said, I'm excited and I can't wait for this.

As much as I'll still probably buy one, I would much rather a NEW Pokemon game completely, either on Wii or a DS one that doesn't follow the Red/Blue format religiously... 8-way movement has been around for a while now :P Just not in Pokemon.

I'm still praying for a proper, 3D Pokemon RPG, but as that would be something for core gamers, it's unlikely to come out of Nintendo anytime soon :P As much as I would like it to, but I'm fairly sure the big N have forgotton most of it's core fanbase...

Will probably end up getting this one; I REALLY enjoyed FR/LG and even Emerald compared to the most recent 3

I've long anticipated these. Alas, they're due early next year...

The new features should accommodate the storyline of the once robust Gold and Silver versions though.
