News: Secret New Mario Game In Development

Charles Martinet, voice of the moustachioed Mario, spills the beans on an as-yet-unannounced Mario title in the works...

Mario fans have a lot to look forward to right now. The release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii is just around the corner, and we have Mario Galaxy 2 confirmed for release sometime in 2010. But apparently, that is not all...

Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario in all Nintendo titles, yesterday posted this on his Twitter:

Awesome new Mario Game! And it's not NSMB Wii, and it's not Galaxy 2, but it's going to be crazy fun!

What could it be? A new Paper Mario title? Yet another Mario Party? Or something else entirely? What would you like it to be? Answers on a postcard... (or in the comments below!)

POSSIBILITIES:

Mario Party 9 - Hudson Soft at their best. 100+ new mini games that consist of standard control and wii motion plus elements, online play and online leaderboards (for mini game records);

Mario Paint Wii - A creative persons dream. All the goodies from the SNES game (including Fly Swat Game modernised) and more. Hundreds of colors, stamps and musical sounds for compositions;

Super Mario RPG Wii - SE/Nintendo announce collaboration for a new Mario RPG based on SNES game. 100 hours+ gameplay first time through, amazing stylised graphics, one of the 'darkest' Mario games to possibly ever release;

Mario Golf/Tennis Wii - Camelot come out of hiding. Wii motion plus enhanced gameplay inspired by Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 and will contain dozens of 18 hole courses, online play and online leaderboards/tournament option;

Yoshis Island Wii - Unlikely considering release of New Super Mario Bros Wii, but can't be entirely ruled out. Stylised graphics with engrossing 2d gameplay that made the original SNES game a fan favorite;

Super Mario Sunset - Sequel to Sunshine. Mario goes on vacation, things go horribly wrong, but this time Bowser is not the antagonist, as he is on vacation with Mario. Team up with Bowser and other allies to conquer difficult puzzles/tasks and defeat the enemy with new FLUDD abilities;

I think it's about time for an announcement on Mario Party 9... I just got MP8 and I LOVE it, it's awesomely fun and different, easily one of my favorite multiplayer games this gen.

Fingers crossed for a proper Paper Mario game or mario party 9 with on-line and wii-speak.

It could be a sports game, but with Mario&Sonic at the Winter Olympics, I'm not too sure about it.

I'm rooting for a 3D Mario RPG, but not Sol's idea. I'd like it to be more like the Mario & Luigi games in mood.

You know what? With Nintendo making sequels to Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros... I really wouldn't be surprised if it's Mario Kart Wii 2.

Given the "crazy fun" comment, my money's on Mario Party 9, though I wouldn't rule out Mario Kart Wii 2 - just not yet, I don't think. We've only had the first one since last April.

Anyway; Optimisticaly, Paper Mario 3
Pessimisticaly; Mario Party whatever (come on theres enough minigames on the Wii already)

Camalot is too busy with Golden Sun 3 I would thing.
I wouldnt rule out a new spin-off like Strikers though.

what i think it is, is a sequel to the mario bros adventure on the gameboy, and bowser is with u on this mission. that game seems wikid fun. they posted it on the nintendo's magazine a while back. that might be the new game . and sol, super mario sunset isnt a bad idea....
