Pokémon Sun and Moon coming late 2016

On Wednesday Nintendo announced that a special Pokémon Direct would be airing.  Yesterday rumours began circulating that new games, Pokémon Sun and Moon, would be announced following some trademark registrations and today those rumours have been confirmed by Nintendo.

During the brief Direct it was confirmed that new games would be coming worldwide in late 2016 and support 9 languages, adding Traditional and Simplified Chinese to the existing roster.

It wasn't mentioned whether these new games are a new generation or continuing the existing ones, but the expression "a new era" was used.  We'll leave it up to you to speculate if this confirms it or not until we hear from Nintendo.

No details or sceenshots were announced, but some concept art was shown and eagle-eyed viewers spotted a Blastoise in the back of a truck.  Could we be seeing a world more akin to the anime series where Pokémon are humans live and work together?  We'll have to wait and see.

Forum member Julias Ceaser has uploaded a bunch of screenshots from the Direct which showcase the aforementioned concept art and a wireframe model of what looks to be a new Pokémon.

For now, enjoy the trailer celebrating 20 years of Pokémon.
