The Game Awards 2018 new Switch announcements round-up

Although the Game Awards are a celebration of games released in the past years, more and more developers grab the chance to hog the spotlight with some new announcements. Nintendo especially has a good relation with the hosts of the Game Awards, leading to a nice list of games to look forward to. We give you the run-down!

There were a lot of speculations about Metroid Prime 4 or a Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster being shown. Unfortunately that didn't happen. What did happen was the reveal of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order coming exclusively to Switch. The Diablo-ish co-op action RPG makes a triumphant return and lets you play as Marvel's heroes such as Iron Man, Wolverine and Spiderman. Development is in the hands of Team Ninja and the game will release somewhere in 2019.

NetherRealm showed Mortal Kombat 11, a new title in the popular fighting series. Raiden and Scorpion duel it out in the NSFW trailer, and time seems to play a role in the story. The best news is that the game comes to the Switch as well, as it has been a while since a Mortal Kombat title has graced a Nintendo console. The game is out in April 2019.

Playstation mascot Crash Bandicoot already showed his face this year with Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. In June 2019 he will stop running and start racing in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The game is a remake of the Mario Kart-like Crash Team Racing that hit the Playstation way back in 1999. Beenox is handling the remake and it will be published by Activision.

Stranger Things Season 3: The Game is coming to all platforms, and we assume that also includes the Nintendo Switch. It will be a top-down, retro-styled 16 bit, made by BonusXP. They were also responsible for the smartphone game Stranger Things.

Sayanora Wild Hearts from Simogo describes itself as a pop album game, and we don't know exactly what to expect. It involves music, stylish graphics and motorcycle gangs though. Time will tell as the game will release in 2019.

And finally Nintendo revealed the first of the five Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters. Persona 5's The Joker will join the fray!
