Capcom's popular puzzler, Super Puzzler Fighter 2 Turbo, is making it's way to the GBA with a vague 'This Winter' release date. Yet another slight variation on Tetris (This one playing more like Puyo Puyo in all fairness), it was actually a very enjoyable game first time round (On the playstation I think), and has some cool animations for the street fighter-alike characters. Have a laugh at the ridiculously titled KimImpossible from Disney Interactive and Digital Eclipse and then act surprised at the fact that it isn't looking too bad really. Taking on a bit of a rough comic-book visual style with a previously unseen heroine (Probably based on a disney cartoon series or something), it is a side scrolling action title and is due this very month. This is Digital Eclipse so expect good things.
Looking for more superhero action on your GBA? Then you may be interested in "The Invincible Iron Man' from Activision and Torus games. Yet another side scrolling action title, it is due this autumn. Blizzard (responsible for the popular Warcraft and Starcraft titles on the PC) will be publishing a GBA game. It will be the excellent Lost vikings game that you may have played on the PC, SNES or Mega Drive almost ten years ago. It is due spring next year, and it's very possible that we'll see some other Blizzard titles (Older ones of course) winging their way to the GBA not too soon after that. Majesco have announced two upcoming GBA games. One a puzzle type game called turbo Trutle advance looks a bit like Kuru Kuru Kururin, but doesn't sound like it will play anything like it, I believe it was previewed in last month's Edge magazine. The other is from developer's Monkeystone (Which is headed by infamous Daiktana creator John Romero) and is a port of the Pocket PC title, Hyperspace Delivery Boy. Both are due 'This holiday season'.
THIS WEEK'S NEW RELEASES
Once again EB has tried to defy me by deleting all of this week's new releases from their list even though IT ISN'T FRIDAY YET. But they lose this time as I've written them down from last week.
CASTLEVANIA: HARMONY OF DISSONANCE: Funny, I thought dissonance was some sort of bowel condition, I suppose I was wrong. Anyhow, this is much the same as Circle of the Moon but with much brighter levels and character sprites, so it should be easier to play outside of blinding sunlight than the last one. I've never been a fan of the Castlevania series, but NGC Magazine says: 'The classic Castlevania atmosphere raises this above other contenders and if you're after a precisely crafted slow burner, you'll find solace down in Transylvania tonight" and scores it a highly respectable 86%.
DEADLY SKIES: A flight sim from Konami and Mobile 21 includes missions ranging from dog fights to bombing runs and has some efficient (If unspectacular) graphics. Gamesmaster seems to like it calling it "New and refreshingly different". They score it 76%
GEKIDO: A manga-styled scrolling beat-em-up, this comes from Zoo Digital and NAPS Team. It claims to have an enthralling storyline and top calss animation. I can't find any reviews for it anywhere, so I guess you'll have to take their word for it.
YOSHI'S ISLAND - SUPER MARIO ADVANCE 3: The third in a long line of SNES Mario ports from nintendo. This, in my opinion, is the best game in the world, it's certainly my favourite game ever. I would advise picking it up on the SNES rather than this, since I imagine it would control easier with the SNES pad (I've always been a bit funny with the GBA's shoulder buttons) but if you don't have a SNES, then don't even consider passing this up, it's a must buy. I won't bother digging up a review for you since there are numerous ones online, all of them raving about it.
THIS WEEK'S TOP 5: Wanted from Japan games
I'm not talking about games which have yte to be translated (Golden Sun 2 et al), I mean the games that we'll never see outside of Japan. Here are the ones I think look the best.
1. Shining Soul (Sega)
2. I Am an Air Traffic Controller (Tam Inc.)
3. Hamtaro (Who knows)
4. Napoleon (Nintendo)
5. Magical Vacation (Browny Brown)
