Feature: C-E Weekly Digest

This weeks news has been slow. There's no too ways about it. But I've still managed to scrape a Weekly Digest. Just about.

1 million. It's the magic number

Nintendo revealed this week that an amazing 1 millioon Gamecubes have been sold in Europe. In just 11 weeks! Now I knew it would sell well but even this is a surprise. We've not had any really killer apps yet. No Marios, no Zeldas, no Metroids. Yes, Smash Bros Melee was brilliant. But it wasn't that brilliant. I guess everyone is confident in Gamecubes future, not too hard to imagine when you look at the games coming out between now and Christmas.

Compare this to 500,000 XBoxs sold, and the fact that the next few months aren't near as good for Microssofts console as Nintendos and it's clear, even now, how this generation is going to span out in Europe anyway. PS2 first. Gamecube second. XBox third. Not surprisingly at all.

Games Day explosion
Our very own Tim and Gerben were lucky enough to attend Nintendos Games Day event. Be sure to check out their impressions of Zelda, Metroid, Starfox and more. Lucky b*stards.

Eye Candy
This week saw many new screenshots heading our way, combating the news drought. Zelda, Metroid ans Starfox are looking particulary sweet if I do say so myself. Timesplitters 2, Micky Mouse and more are inlcuded in the handy Screenshot Blowout .

Nomero Uno. Or not
It had to happen sonner or later. Mario has been knocked off that topspot in Japan. Unbelievably, it has only sold around half a million. While that may seen a lot, for a games as high-profile as this, you would've expected it to almost be at the million mark, if not above it by now. It seems that Nintendo should more and more concentrate on the West instead of the East. I'll eat my hat if SMS doesn't passed 800,000 sales 3 weeks after its release in America.
