GBA games on your telly? Thanks to a new hardware add-on that's what we'll be seeing. Our staff discuss what affect it will have.
What affect do you think the GameCube GBA Player will have on Nintendo games-playing?
Blackbird: Not much... maybe some GBA-owners will buy a GC, but certainly not vice-versa...
Anyone remember the Super Gameboy?
GameCubeGod: I don't really see the point. I mean, like Blackbird said, remember the Super Gameboy? That's pretty much all it is, just updated to play GBA games on a more powerful console. It was pointless in the days of the SNES, and it's just as pointless now. I wouldn't be suprised if it sold like a wet fish on a cold day.
Link: I don't think it will have a big affect on the way that games are played, but I personally will buy one. For all of those people who want a GBA to play GBA games and who don't care about it being portable (me being one of the above) this is great. It also saves us some money so we don't need a GC-GBA link-up cable (unless you actually need a GBA). For those people this is great. For people who already have a GBA and link cable there isn't much there for them.
Javid: As it stands it's a cool new innovation and I will be buying it as I would love to play GBA games on my huge tele! hehe, but I think there's more to it than what we know already. Maybe it's the influence of Schpickles and his predictions, but it seems there's something more behind this whole peripheral add-on business that has to be involved with this 'big announcement' that we have previously discussed. It's link with Pokemon seems almost pre-determined as anything GBA always has those critters behind it...who knows. What the GBA Player does mean though is that playin GBA games will be more fun I feel.
Conor: As I said in Fridays Digest, I think there is more than meets the eye as far as the GBA Player is concerned. On one hand, sure it's a little device that allows to play GB games on your GameCube. But on the other hand, it's an indicator of Nintendos future plans. Interactivity between the two consoles.
GameCubes options will be opened to the GBA with the hardware, including any online capabilities. So we could be playing our GBA games against someone from halfway across the world this time next year. I think it could happen, and I'll definitely be in on it.
Tim: I am not sure what Nintendo has up it sleeves with this player. I am sure there is more to it than just have it let you play your GBA games full TV size. The question is what... We will find out soon enough!
