Feature: Eye Candy - Timsplitters 2

Welcome to a new feature at Cube-Europe, Eye Candy. In each one we'll be looking at newly-released screenshots and drawing as much information from them as we can. We know, we know, you shouldn't judge a game too much from screenshots but sometimes shots are all we have on a game or lack of released details forces us to analyse screens. In this edition we cast our eyes over yesterdays Timesplitters 2 screens.

OK, OK, I'll admit it. I don't know squat about TS2, so forgive me if I point anything out that is already obvious and well-known to TS fans.

-This is obivously a shot from the multiplayer mode, note the Rank position at the top-right. Also, the radar in the top-left, it is unsurprisingly similar to Goldeneyes'. Hmm, wonder why that is? It is a nice touch to be able to easily see your rank through the whole game rather than pausing it or something.
-Is it me or is the gun on the left being held by an invisible hand? The option to hold two guns may tip the balance too much in multiplayer games too much though. The other shots show the right-hand gun is the default, perhaps this is just a freak shot?

-Another multiplayer shot, looks to be set in a 1930s-esque level carrying the theme on from singleplayer sections.
-It seems the level determines the weapons, note that tommyguns being used by your enemy here and eerie, future-esque ones being used in the shot above.

-Yet another multiplayer shot. This level looks quite industrial, probably loads of metallic greys and complex structures.
-Wow! Look at the awesome effects with the flamethrower (if that's what it is)! One of the more lovely things in TS2 is the effects used by the more inconventional weapons.
-The gun being used by the player looks quite like the electrifying gun used by that enemy in MGS2, while the players gun looks a lot like Bonds PP7.

-Beautiful, simply beautiful. The architecture is hugely impressive, but those stained glass windows at the top are gorgeous. Timesplitters 2 is one pretty game, let me tell ya. And what's the odds you can smash those windows?
-Notice the great animation and body structure of the enemy in the foreground, this seems to be the same for other enemies too.
-What's that enemy in the background doing? It looks as if he is swinging a flaming sword around or the like, how cool would that be.

-A fun part of the original Timesplitters was the mini-games, there are definitely great ones to expect in the sequel. This is obviously from one.
-I'd guess that boards would pop up, you'd have to shoot evil-looking ones to score points while making sure you don't lose points by shooting grannys.
-Expect more mini-games to pop up as time goes on.

Join us tomorrow when we'll be checking out yesterdays racing screens; Shox and Pro Rally 2001.
