You get a say on gaming's most important issues.

Obviously everyone is excited about the new Zelda. And obviously everyone is looking forward to Retro's second Metroid title. But what about the third-party games? Resident Evil 4, Viewtiful Joe 2, Timesplitters Future Perfect...there's a lot to look forward to. But which one is the top one?

Which third party title from E3 are you looking forward to the most, and why?

Shenlong:

Well for me it's Resident Evil 4 now; I've heard nothing but good things, and for one who didn't like the older games as much - this is a godsend. It looks like a great change for the series, and all of it is in glorius 3D - I really can't wait for this game. However the controls has been getting mixed reviews, some hate them some love them, but for me it looks so good at this point, I'm sure that it won't phase me much...what with it looking like it works fine (read the Cube in depth and it had the controls on it). That being said, there are other games I await anxiously, mainly from Capcom - Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7.

monopoly2:

Well, for me it has to be Timesplitters 3: Future Perfect. Timesplitters 2 was quite possibly the best 3rd party game that I have played, and one of the best EVER. From the TS3 screenshots, it looks promising. I'm not sure which time period the screens were set in, I think it is probably Vietnam or the Falklands or something like that (forgive me if I'm wrong), and the weapons you can use look good, like the grenade thing that spins. Also, we something about this game but not a lot, and that's what really excites me. Hopefully, it will match, or even better the multiplayer and content of Timesplitters 2.

Choze:

My No.1 choice is Resident Evil 4. Shinji Mikami finally gave the series an overhaul and it really needed one after the last couple of GC games. And oh boy did they impress! It's looking extremely exciting with the more intelligent enemies who are capable of teaming up together and the way you get around the locations such as the village. Rooftops, ladders, locking yourself in a house etc. It's much more open. It doesn't hurt that Leon can perform a vast array of moves thanks to the context sensitive button for things like pushing a ladder down(useful for hurting people) or kicking yourself away from an enemy. The trailer has everyone salvating and the fact this was one of the best games at E3 and probably the best game on the showfloor it was obvious to choose RE4. Also looking forward to other 3rd party games like Timesplitters 3, Spiderman 2, Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Need for Speed Underground 2...

CubeChris:

My most anticipated 3rd party title for the Gamecube shown at E3 this year has to be Viewtiful Joe 2; although being yet another sequel, I believe that VJ really did not get the recognation it deserved. VJ showed that gaming still can be original and new, and it really was a breath of fresh air, and well done to Capcom for taking this risk. I just hope VJ2 offers a really high quality entertainment factor which I certainly got from the first title.

Rickoss:

For me, Capcom have really pulled something special out of the bag for my beloved little Cube in Resident Evil 4. The PS2 has GTA, the XBox has Halo and now the GameCube has Resident Evil 4. Whether or not it's groundbreaking in terms of gameplay, no doubt every GameCube owner should own the game, it's already attracted a lot of interest from many-an-Xbox fan, who have previously claimed the GameCube to be pointless. This isn't to say I'm only looking forward to it because of what it could do for the GameCube in terms of popularity; by all means it looks absolutely stunning.

I liked previous Resident Evil titles, but none have ever had me wanting it so much, it really looks like the days of slow-paced, zombie chasing is gone, as in the countless hours of ammo searching that went on. As tense as it was having to run from five brain-chompers ambling towards you like a pack of drunks, or soiling yourself whenever you came across a Crimson Head, I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd much rather pull out an uzi and mow down a pack of evil, undead priests. What's amazing is, despite being based in the daytime and having around 20 enemies on-screen at once, this looks to be the most atmospheric Resident Evil title to date. I don't think I've ever seen a game that manages to successfully blend fast-paced action with tense, spine-chilling horror.

Normally the action would snap you out of the atmosphere, but from the various videos I've seen, that isn't the case at all. Furthermore, this looks to be the best looking console to date. Yeah, a lot of people will favour Conker, which does look amazing, but for me you can't beat this visually. The characters models look as detailed as ever, the environments (especially the castle area) look intricately designed and the lighting is nothing short of breathtaking; from the ever-flickering blue flames, candle-wielding priests and flaming balls, it really can't be faulted. This is going to be something special in every single way. I'm counting the days.

Hmm the game I'm looking forward to the most by a 3rd party? I would have to say Starcraft Ghost. Ever since I first played Starcraft and later the add-on I have loved the universe that Blizzard created. The three different races each with their own story and motives, strengths and weaknesses. The atmosphere is also unparralled for an RTS even though it was limited by technology. And of course my favourite character is, you guessed it, the ghost! My love stems from its really cool sayings and the fact that it's a cloaked unit that can lauch nukes! I have followed this game as like the Ghost it has quietly and efficently sneaked up on the games industry unlike some of the media hyped games that lack substance. I really cannot wait for this game and I am so glad it is still coming to the Gamecube in a time were other 3rd party titles have been axed for the Cube. I think this game could suprise us of course sadly many people won't even know its there. The cloaking system is working a bit too well I feel.

-dZION-:

I am not really looking forward to any 3rd party software. Yeah Resident Evil 4 looks great, but I don't really care. It's nothing really new, and most games shown at E3 were sequels or re-issues of older games. Although there are some really mind-blowing games between them, I haven't seen anything that gave me that feeling you get when you so desperately want a game now, like that feeling I got from the DS. The problem with this year's E3, in my opinion, is that Nintendo's line-up was too good. Well to me it was. A new Zelda, Paper Mario 2, Geist, Metroid Prime: Echoes, Donkey Konga, Starfox 2...Although, if I have to choose one game, I'd go for Viewtiful Joe 2. It just looks even more fun and challenging than the first one. And the artwork is great too.

To all those who volunteered Paper Mario 2 as their choice, it's not a third party game. The 'Mario' bit kind of gave it away. Anyway, that's all for this week, you can check the Gamecube Board on the forum for the latest topic.
