I really really wrestled with this. Should I post this or not. I mean it’s a sure way of getting my inbox filled with people telling me how immature I am, how I can’t be a true gamer if I can’t appreciate the X-box. The computer I ever had was a ZX Spectrum and man I loved that thing, yes it took 10 minutes to load a game and yes more often than not it didn’t work but hell it was exciting. 13years on and I’m still playing games but there is one word that has become integral to the world of computers, they have taken over the PC market and now they want to take over the console market they are of course Microsoft.

Say what you will about Bill Gates but he is a damn genius and a damn rich one at that. Personally I think he is the voice behind Kermit the Frog but he is a clever man indeed. The X-box has more brute strength than both the PS2 and the GameCube, it has broadband capabilities built in and it has a hard drive. All in all it is a good machine even if it is a mid range PC. I would love to know what the Euro pre order sale figures were out of interest. If you are now sitting there reading thinking to yourself what the hell is he going on about now? Well I’m just tired and fed up and you know what? I’m not excited any more. You see back in the early days the first big computer war was Sinclair V Commodore. The thing is it was not the same as the Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo Wars. It was all new it was all exciting and there really were fantastic games on all systems. I have said this before and I’ll say it again it was with the Playstation that the world of gaming went downhill. I’m not saying that the Playstation had no good games but if the truth be told the N64 was more powerful and the games were fantastic, amazing and more numerous than the Playstation ones.

Last year was a record-breaking year for video games, even in my household by May there will be a GBA, PS2, GC and a PC. We now have 3 good consoles to choose from and yet my heart sank when I saw X box had out sold the GC in America. Don’t shout at me but the X-Box really sucks. There I said it if I read one more time that we should all get along and if we see an owner of a console that we don’t own walking down the street we should give them a hug, or worse go in to a forum and see yet another person say that they are sick of fanboys and they want only mature debate then I will scream. Don’t get me wrong just saying, “I hate X-box, it’s gay” is sad and pathetic. But as I search the Internet and look at the forums it strikes me that they are full of people calling people gay and people being all mature. The famous line is “I like all consoles but PS2 Rules. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Man I feel a lot better now and from now on I am going to speak my mind and say what I feel and in all my gaming years never has something scared me as much as the X-box. I consider myself a Hardcore gamer and I feel that even though the PS2 is far behind in terms of technology it has a fair few good games coming out this year. The X-box is different. Halo (whopeeeeee) DOA3 (hurahhh) Project Ego (Ok that could be good). I’m not saying that they are terrible games, far from it but they are not very exciting and Halo is very much a PC type game. The problem is, is that I’m not so far up Nintendo’s backside to say that in all likelihood X-Box will out sell the GC (in the West anyway). Bill Gates is not the richest man in the world for nothing and the problem is that if all else fails they have a checkbook that is huge, while Nintendo makes classics, Microsoft can buy them. Again as I have said before, thank god for Pokemon otherwise Nintendo would be in trouble. We live in a world where we have to really think before we speak, where we have to be hip and cool, where we have to be in with the in crowd but I’m telling you do what the heck you like, if you think the X-box sucks then you say it, damn if you think the GC sucks then you say it. It’s not sad to play a round of Mario Golf or to have a fight between Link and Luigi; do you know what it is? It’s fun and if we are all not careful in ten years time will be playing on a X-box XP.SE.
