Quarterly Report – April to June 2012
The story so far
6 months in and the N-Europe Mario Kart League’s debut on the Nintendo 3DS has been a great success, player numbers are good and we have had some really great & memorable league nights.
We now have 22 regular players in the league with usually 3 groups of 5+ playing simultaneously each week.
For each group, I designate two players from each group to make sure everything goes smoothly and also to take photos of the final scoreboards at the end of each GP. These players are effectively in charge of the group and determine how long they wait for players before starting the countdown.
Newcomers
We are always on the lookout for new members to join the league. Any newcomers would start in the lowest group, so don’t be worried about being in Group 1 with all the top players in your first week. Also as the League points are based on an average of points earned to GP's competed in new players will not be left at a disadvantage and still have every chance of competing for the top spots.... if you are good enough. Similarly this means if you are unable to compete every week you will not find yourself falling behind due to missed races either.
We’ve had 2 players join the league this quarter, MadeinBeats who was already a forum member and JerseyJohn who was browsing the internet looking for a Mario Kart league to join.
If you are interested in joining the league, either PM me for details or leave a post in the Mario Kart League 2012 thread.
Connection errors
We seem to be suffering less and less with connection errors but it’s still not perfect and we’ve just come to accept to have 1 or 2 problems each week.
Player of the Month Awards
Each month we have a player of the month. This is given to the player with the best average score for that month. To be in with a chance of winning this, you need to have taken part in more than 50% of the GPs that month. Here is a look at the Player of the Month results for April, May and June.
The Points System
If you are in a group with 4, 5, 6 or 7 players. Your points total for a GP will be divided by the number of players in your group then multiplied by 8, which will give you your league points for that GP
Your league points are then divided by the number of GPs you have taken part in, giving you your average. This is what determines your position in the league table, so if you do miss a league night, if won’t affect your score but you will most likely change position in the league.
To summarise, if I scored the following points in 6 GPs: 32, 10, 19, 40, 16 & 19
I would have a total of 136 which would be divided by 6 giving me an average of 22.6.
The League Table
Here is how the N-Europe Mario Kart League looks as of July 8th.
Statistics
Participation: In total 37 players have taken part in the league
1 player has taken part in all 78 GPs
Winners: 27 players have won at least 1 GP
17 players have won 5 or more GPs
Themes
To help mix things up and keep GP's fresh "Themes" are created each week for each of the 3 GP's that players will compete in. Suggestions from league participants on GP themes are always welcomed and encouraged. A theme consists of suggestions for the 4 courses to be selected in a GP as well as which Character(s) players must play as or choose from. Kart part limitations are never set so players are always free to use whichever combination of kart parts they wish. Sometimes special Mii's may be created and QR codes provided by a theme creator to take the place of the character they suggest players should be as part of their theme.
Here is an example of some of the great themes we have played over the last 3 months.
No Laps for you, created by Mokong X-C

Kirby’s 20” Anniversery, created by Fused King
Don't forget even though we are half way into the 2012 N-E Mario Kart League season it is NEVER too late to join the fun. The points system is designed so that no player is required to take part every week and any new racer will be able to push for the top... assuming they have the MK7 skills to do so. Head over to the Mario Kart League thread in the N-Europe forums now if you are interested in burning rubber with the rest of N-E's Mario Kart racers.
