Original N64europe Review

Just a couple of weeks before its release, Rare shocked the world with screenshots of a beautiful game: Diddy Kong Racing. When I saw the screenshots for the first time, I thought this game was going to be even better then Mariokart64, but unfortunately it wasn't true. This is a very childish game, not that it's easy or something, but the graphics are childish, the sounds is childish, just the whole game is childish and it sucks.

One thing that I found pretty cool aboput DKR is that it's pretty original, it isn't just a normal racing game. It features two different modes: Racing and Adventure. In Racing it's just racing a track and pass the finish as the first one. Adventure Mode is a bit like a platform game: while collecting certain items (balloons), you've got to get to the end of levels and defeat end-bosses. After you've done that you have race against the big end-boss WhizPig. The more levels you've beaten in Racing mode, the more levels you can play in Adventure mode.

Well, the graphics of DKR look good, and the sound and gameplay aren't bad as well, but still this game is way too childish. Especially older gamers will put the game back in its box after an hour of playing and won't get it out of it anymore. Don't buy this game, it sucks.
