Game Details: F1 Pole Position
A Formula 1 Racing sim from Human Entertainment
Original N64europe review
Pretend to be your favorite GrandPrix driver and jump behind the wheel. Don’t go mad because this is almost for real.
The game has almost everything a F1 simulation needs. I said almost "almost" because there are a few minor points in this game, but more about those later. First things first … The game has got every track that has been used in the Formula 1 in ’96. Yes, 1996, this is a racing game about the year ’96. Not very up to date I’d say. The tracks are pretty boring because they all look the same, but a real Formula 1 driver won’t care about this fact.
There are 20 characters to choose from which have different skills and a different car. Specifications of the cars can be changed in the workshop, such as brake power and that sort of stuff. The gameplay isn’t very easy because it’s a simulator, and we all know that it isn’t easy to get a Formula 1 car over the finish line. When you hit the sand you’ll know it immediately.
The graphics were a bit disappointing to me a bit because it wasn’t much better than PSX games… but who cares.
Conclusion:
This game is not for people who like to race and kill all the opponents. This is a game for Formula 1 fans who are more interested in realism than the quality of the graphics.
