Game Details: FIFA 99
Another FIFA football game for N64.
Original N64europe Review
EA Sports has had quite a successful time with the releases of the 3 soccer games. They started a bit crap, Fifa 64, and ended with Fifa World Cup which is a terrific game! I said ended but that is not true of course, many soccer games will follow in the FIFA series and now it is time for the fourth title: Fifa 99.
There have been a lot of improvements... of course... why else would you bring out another soccer game. One example is the heights of the players. They now have different heights.. which is of course funny but also useful or unhandy. It makes the Players look more life-like and that is a positive thing, because we always want the highest realistic level as possible with soccer.. it makes it more fun.
Fifa 99 has the biggest lineup of teams of any Fifa game yet! All the big teams are part of the game... complete with their latest home and away uniforms.
The game has 4 speed modes: Normal, Fast, Faster and Fastest.. this makes the game even more realistic. There are three difficulty levels to choose from and eight camera modes and game times ranging from 4 to 45 minutes.
As always a Fifa game carries a famous tune with it.. Fifa 99 has the honor to promote FatBoy Slim's hit single Rockafeller Skank.
The main options of the game are quite normal. There is a seasons option, a custom cup option and there are two exhibition modes: Friendly and Golden Goal.
The most important thing about this game is of course the gameplay.. the controls... If you liked the previous Fifa controls you'll like these because they are'nt much different... the game is a bit more Responsive. Another great thing is the new moves that have been added to the game. I won't give them away because there are more fun as a surprise whil you play the game.
I think this game is definatly worth buying... It has great graphics and controls! If you already own another Fifa title.. except for Fifa 64 I personally would not buy this game. Why? Well, it is very simple... it is just an upgraded version of the previous title. Unless you want the best of the best and you aren't satisfied with your own version. Tim has left the building!
