Original N64europe Review

Not since Mario unveiled the N64 has a title offered such extremely brilliant and fluid graphics--the kind that make a game fun to watch and play. .

From the opening kickoff, the players running at an terrific resolution make it clear: this football game will eventually earn a place in the hall of fame.

QB Club also has fine controls for the battle on the gridiron. Running backs can actually find the hole when banging up the middle. In the open field, it's possible to time a perfect jump in front of an lineman in order to reach the first down. And completing a bullet pass to a well-covered receiver feels like it was a real challenge of skill and not played out at random. The terrific gameplay, but it's also because the coach and players on the other team ain't no dummies.

The AI in this scrambler has got some fire in it's way of playing the game although it may not be burning quite as hot as EA's Madden 64. After playing QB Club for several days, the tough games between evenly matched opponents played out as they should. I did notice that it was a bit too easy to complete a pass to receivers, even ones that were given triple coverage: the computer didn't seem inclined to go for an interception, opting instead for a sure tackle. In any case, QB Club treats you to a fair, albeit tough, game each time you play. Who says Nintendo 64 sports games are for kids?
