3DS hardware turns profitable, as of today

Whilst you were enjoying the exciting Q1 financial figures, it has been confirmed that Nintendo is no longer taking a loss on each 3DS system sold for the first time since its drastic price cut last summer.
According to Eurogamer, the 3DS system is officially into the black as of today.
The hardware had been sold at a loss ever since a drastic price cut came into effect last August in an effort to boost sales. It certainly worked, but Nintendo's pockets had been hit with the drastic loss of profits thanks to the loss-leading system.
Interestingly, there is no clue as to whether this newfound profitability also applies to the 3DS XL which releases on Saturday. The XL is retailing at a slightly higher cost than the standard 3DS model, but nowhere near the pre-price-cut figure.
