3DS soars in Japan, closes in on 8 million

While it was a PS3 JRPG that dominated the Japanese software chart this week, attention will also be paid to the level of performance Nintendo's 3DS is currently enjoying. Thanks to a couple of new bundles (Monster Hunter 3 G and the Black 3DS XL), the system shot up close to the 100k.

With that said, the handheld only had one new game in the top 20 - Konami's latest Winning Eleven entry. The top spot went to Bandai Namco's Tales of Xillia 2, which made number one comfortably, although sales were down considerably compared to its predecessor.

Meanwhile, there continue to be strong legs for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Bravely Default.

Here is the Media Create software chart for the week of October 29th to November 4th.

Thanks to the aforementioned new bundle releases, 3DS received a shot in the arm to take it close to 100k for the week. Ominously, tomorrow sees the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the system, so this is likely just a taster of the sort of momentum it will have leading up to Christmas.
