Ace Attorney 5 coming to Nintendo 3DS

It has been five years since the last Ace Attorney title was released in Japan (excluding the Investigations games), but that is all about to change as a new title is in the works for the Nintendo 3DS.

Ace Attorney 5 was actually announced earlier this year, but the newest issue of Japanese publication Famitsu confirms that the title is being developed for the 3DS.

While most of the series has remained on Nintendo's handheld consoles, the first few titles have recently been ported to iOS.

Ace Attorney 5 will see the series return to Nintendo's console and also see its colourful lead Phoenix Wright return, after he was replaced by Apollo Justice in the latest DS title.

According to Andriasang, Wright will be joint by a new partner who will be a major character in the game.  Other than the fact she wears yellow clothing not much is known about the character, but we're sure she'll play a big role in at least one of the game's trials.

The new issue of Famitsu also features an advert for Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, the highly anticipated cross-over between two of the most beloved franchises on Nintendo's handhelds.

The advert contains the text '6211' and according to sources there is an indication it is meant to be read upside, leading to speculation that it will be released on the 29th November in Japan.

At present there is no set release date for Ace Attorney 5, while Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney is due to be released later this year.
