Level-5 Presidesnt, Akihiro Hino was pleased with the series' most recent release, Professor Layton and the Legacy of Super Civilization A (Azran Legacy in the west ) speaking at the Japan Expo in France. The lead designer of the Professor Layton games said that he doesn't want the series to end here, adding that he wants to make more Professor Layton titles that would bring about new challenges.

Akihiro Hino held a panel where he teased the localisation of another Layton game, but the real talking point came when he was asked about a new Layton trilogy.

Question: “Will there be a new trilogy of the adventures of Professor Layton?”

Akihiro Hino: “If a seventh game was to be born one day, it probably won’t be the Layton we know today.”

It seems that another Professor Layton game isn't just a thought, but a serious possibility. However, that would most likely be a few years away. In the meantime we can fill the layton void with the upcoming Azran Legacies later this year and maybe even the Layton Brothers spin-off.
