Angry Birds is by far one of the biggest success stories of recent years and the series has catapulted itself (quite literally) onto millions of phones and handheld devices worldwide. Now Nintendo gamers also get a slice of the bird flinging action and it seems the waiting was worth it as this is the 'ultimate special edition'. 

Angry Birds Trilogy is set for release this holiday season and features the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio as well as boasting StreetPass functionality.

Rovio's executive vice president of games, Petri Järvilehto, stated that this collectors edition will feature new cinematics, extras and 'other entertaining content'. As well as the 3DS, Angry Birds Trilogy has been announced for HD consoles though a Wii U version hasn't been confirmed so far.

...Though just imagine flinging your bird from the Wii U GamePad to see it smash into those dastardly pigs on the big screen!
