BAM Entertainment has announced it has successfully negotiated the rights with Cartoon Network to release games based on Samurai Jack. Although no specific platforms were announced, the first Samurai Jack game will be released this year.
"This agreement is another exciting step in what has been a successful relationship between Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Bam Entertainment,'' said Philippe Erwin, vice president of Interactive Entertainment for Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "Beginning with the success of games based on The Powderpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory, our partnership with Bam continues to grow and we look forward to working with them on making Samurai Jack a huge hit in the world of interactive entertainment.'' "We are thrilled to expand our relationship with The Cartoon Network and to bring another of its premiere television shows to the gaming industry,'' said Ray Musci, CEO of Bam Entertainment. "Samurai Jack offers deeply rich content and will be a great source of quality-driven games for our expanding lineup.'' Bam Entertainment holds the game rights other popular Cartoon Network shows such as The Powerpuff Girls, Yogi Bear, and Dexter's Laboratory. Bam’s already released Dexter and Powerpuff Girls for the Game Boy Advance, Powerpuff Girls for the N64 and plans a Powerpuff Girls game for the GameCube. Sooner or later, it seems likely that Samurai Jack will grace a Nintendo platform too.
