After teasing Gen 2 with a couple of baby Pokémon, Niantic finally announced that they will add 80 more Pokémon to Pokémon Go. These are all from the Johto region as we know it from Pokémon Gold/Silver.

Some of these are evolutions to Pokémon which are already in the game, and you need special items to evolve them which you can get at PokéStops. So maybe this means they add items like the King's Rock or Metal Coat.

Berries add more strategy to encounters, since you can use them to for example slow down your opponent or increase the amount of candies you get. Item carousels make it easier for you to access your items in battle.

Finally your avatar and wardrobe are expanded for more customization of your character.
