Blast Ball - new 3DS IP revealed at Nintendo World Championships

Among the slew of modern and classic Nintendo games to take centre-stage during last night's Nintendo World Championships, one round was dedicated to a brand new, never-before-seen title.

Blast Ball is a brand new IP from Nintendo for 3DS, and pits three players against three in an explosive arena challenge. The basic premise is football-meets-mechs-and-massive-guns. The aim is to shoot the ball into your opponents' goal. When you score a point, the goal shrinks. There are a number of power-ups and booby traps to make everything that bit more volatile and difficult.

Very little else was divulged about Blast Ball, leading some to speculate whether it really will release as its own game.

The development studio wasn't revealed either, although the game bears a striking resemblance to NST's Metroid Prime Hunters.

Check out the game's debut below.
