Bravely Default conquers Japan

The latest Media Create charts from Japan have been released, offering some rare good news for publisher Square-Enix. The company, who has seen some disappointing results with its staple Final Fantasy titles in recent months, enjoyed a strong opening week from the 3DS-exclusive RPG Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.
The game is actually the best opening week for an all-new Square-Enix IP for some years. In contrast, cult favourite The World Ends With You managed just over 80k in its first week, while Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light - to which Bravely Default is something of a spiritual sequel - posted just under 120k.
The other big new release was a different 3DS exclusive: Namco Bandai's crossover SRPG Project X Zone. That game could only manage third in the software chart, but still put in a decent total.
Here is the full top 20 for the week of October 8th to 14th.
