BREAKING: Wii Successor Confirmed for E3

At least one Wii2 rumour has proven true.

The intial rumour mill about Nintendo's next home console started with one saying they would reveal the system at this years E3. It seems this one rumour at least has proven true as Nintendo has today confirmed that the successor to their 80 million unit selling Wii will indeed be unvieled at this years E3 expo in LA this coming June.

Nintendo also stated in their official press release that the console will go on sale in 2012. However it is not included in their financial forcasts also announced today for the fiscal term ending in March 2012. This would at least indicate that we should not expect the new console until the second quater of next year at the earliest, though end of year may be more likely.

While no further details were announced such as controller details or even a name a playable model will be shown at the event so full details are just weeks away. In contrast to the intial reveal of the Wii, then Revolution, when Nintendo just showed the console in non-playable form and without any controllers.

With the 3DS just released and a number of Wii games to be covered, including Skyward Sword, the confirmation of a new console should see Nintendo have another busy E3 this year.
