Nintendo seems to be in a release date tinkering mood lately, and so it was that Captain Toad Treasure Tracker was the latest game to be moved ever so slightly forward.

We'll still have to wait until next year for it, but the unsung hero of the Mushroom Kingdom will be greeting us virtually on New Year, with the game new scheduled to launch on Janaury 2nd.

Tonight's Nintendo Direct also featured a new trailer for the Wii U puzzler, which we'll warn spoiler-conscious readers does feature a glimpse of a whopping 70 stages in the game.
