The DS Lite re-launches in three colours... and promptly re-sells out.

The DS Lite's second week of availability marked the debuts of two more colours, Enamel Navy and Ice Blue. The result was a repeat of the previous week's long lines and instant sell-outs as reported here. New shipments will come in each week and we will be monitoring the continued demand for the portable closely.

DS Mark I meanwhile continues to show consistent sales despite the presence of it's younger, sexier sibling. How long this trend can or will continue is still anyone's guess - continued strong sales of the original DS are likely due, at least in part, to the current scarcity of the Lite.

The week's console numbers:

Despite all the print over "non-game" success, the most successful title over the last 4 months has actually been Animal Crossing: Wild World with well over 2 million copies sold. In step with DS system sales, the game rose to reclaim the top spot on the charts. Speaking of the "non-games", the Training series continued strong: English Training has now surpassed 600k in sales and appears to be a steady lock for the 1 million mark. A new wave of "Touch Generations" software is scheduled for a spread out release in the coming weeks that will further diversify the DS' functional role: a new kanji trainer and multiple language travel guides are among the planned offerings.
