Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware

Numbers for the week ending June 12th. Killer 7 sales slow out the gate.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan. The week marked an appreciable increase from last week's total unit sales, yet continued to lag behind overall weekly averages and did not do much to dispel worry over the state of the Japanese game market.

Representing Nintendo system games, DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain again sold well with more than 30,000 copies of the "non-game" sold (even more than last week in fact.) Its total now begins to approach 150,000. Additionally, Nintendogs continued to display amazing staying power on the charts, finding another 10,000 dog-loving owners. Lastly, the GBA saw a popular new release in Magister Negi Magi: Private Lesson Library Island, based on an anime series.

Now, the question is: where is the intriguing Gamecube version of Killer 7? Unfortunately, although the PS2 version made it into the top charts at number 8 (with a fairly underwhelming 11,000 units no less), the Gamecube version was relegated to 16th place.

On the hardware side, DS again took top slot. It is expected that upcoming anticipated releases such as Goemon, Famicom Wars DS and a new Nintendo-developed Japanese-English digital dictionary will help to maintain the system's prominent position.
