Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

Strong DS sales continue to pace the Japanese market in the week ending February 4th.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.

The Top 10 saw only two new titles followed by a lineup of Japan's favorite DS and Wii offerings. DS farming simulation addicts were well served with the latest in the Harvest Moon series with Kimi to Sodatsu Shima (or, The Island On Wich You Grew Up). Meanwhile, the "non-game" genre continues to go strong with cash cow DS training titles and now, it would seem, Wii titles such as Wii Play and Wii Sports. Despite the strength of Wii console sales out of the gate, it has been these two utterly accessible titles that have led all Wii software proving that apparently a little tennis could indeed go a long way as a killer-app.

Hardware sales continued the recent status quo - Nintendo's new generation platforms continued their runaway popularity in Japan. The rate at which the Wii has continued to outsell the PS3 is likely proving very troubling for Sony. May a PS3 price cut be sooner than expected?
