Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

A new Wario game whisks onto Japan's charts in the week ending January 21st.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.

Software sales reflected renewed interest in new title offerings. Particularly popular were new RPGs for the PS2 such as .hack//GU and the Japanese release of the heralded 360 shooter Gears of War. The DS itself had a pair of new releases crash the Top 10 in Wario: The Seven and Atlus's fresh RPG offering Etrian Odyssey. Still, the Top 30 overall maintained a high ND (Nintendo Dominance) factor with 23 out of 30 titles for the DS Lite and Wii.

Hardware sales for the week saw DS Lite retail supply refreshed significantly enough to return the portable to the top of the charts. In recent announcements however, Nintendo has pledged to step up their manufacturing efforts for both the DS Lite and Wii until supply can catch up with demand. It is anyone's guess what month that might be...
