Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

Strong all around sales characterize the pre-Christmas week ending December 24th.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.

The holiday spending spirit began to take hold of Japan, as reflected in the inflated sales numbers. Though DS Lite software continued to control the charts, a new PSP release was able to sneak into the third slot with solid launch sales. The sneaky title? Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops of course. Meanwhile Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker looms large next week, with launch day shipments of the anticipated DS title exceeding 400k.

Hardware sales, like software, saw a major boost with the DS Lite predictably leading the way. Though it sold nearly half a million units in the week, expect even higher totals in the weeks to come.
