Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

New PS2 releases break the DS' stranglehold on the charts in the week ending September 17th.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.

Though the DS retained control of the majority of the top ten, the PS2 had several notable new releases in taking the top two slots. Everyone's Tennis carries over the ease-of-play formula that popularized Hot Shots Golf to...well, tennis. Gamers enamoured with Sony's golf series showed great faith in the developer's abilities in making the game the week's top selling title.

The DS had a lone title debut in the top ten: a Sega-developed new "brain training"-style title that purportedly tackles the issue of stress. Finally, Final Fantasy III continued its strong sales alongside New Super Mario Bros. - it is likely that for the past few weeks the game has been selling out as soon as it is restocked on store shelves. Expect this to be a sign of things to come once Square-Enix drops Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker on the Japanese market next month.
