Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

DS is again the victim of short supply in the week ending February 5th.

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.

DS sales dropped sharply as supply of the portable again bottomed out. The DS Lite is due out in Japan in a little less than a month, possibly a strong factor in the short supply of current DS systems. Nevertheless, Nintendo did promise that the supply issues would be alleviated in late January - it would seem manufacturing simply cannot keep up with demand (especially since they are being asked to simultaneously pump out as many DS Lites as possible).

Looking to software sales, Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus quickly fell from the top spot. In fact, overall software sales scaled back quite a bit from previous weeks. The Training series of DS games however continued to impose their will on the charts, with English Training again managing six figures in sales to ascend to number one. The lone new DS title in the Top 10 is licensed from the anime Eyeshield 21, a series loosely based on American football.
