Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

Final Fantasy and the DS cast a spell on Japan once again in the week ending April 29th.
Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.
Strong sales in the week coincided with the string of Japanese holidays that make up Golden Week. Headlining all other software titles was Square-Enix's much-hyped Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the DS. The FF offshoot had a strong debut, once again richly rewarding S-E's development efforts on the platform.
Though DS software comprised over half of the week's Top 30, Wii titles surprisingly controlled half of the Top 10. Led by the recently released Super Paper Mario and the Wii edition of Gentle Brain Training (also known as the DS' Big Brain Academy) the Wii lineup has received some welcome diversification as of late. Nevertheless, the revolutionary Wii Sports (and to a lesser extent Wii Play) remained strong system sellers.
In hardware the holidays proved to be a popular time to run out and pick up a new game system. All system sales were up, with the DS Lite and the Wii receiving the biggest boosts and the PS3 continuing to trudge near the bottom of the next-gen lineup. Next week's results should reflect expected market letdown from the holiday period, so expect sales to drop noticeably.
