Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

Sales numbers for the week ending November 6th.
Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.
The DS has now broken 2 million units sold in Japan for 2005 to lead all platforms. Overall, hardware sales did not fluctuate much from the previous week. Again, this order will likely be locked in throughout the end of the year with the only likely mover being the PSP (based on factors such as price changes and new bundles as opposed to major new software by the end of the year.)
The advent of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (for the masses) is now less than a week away. Though it will hit the US first in the form of Mario Kart DS, Japan will receive their first foray in Animal Crossing DS...stay tuned as we track the sales numbers for a possible jump in sales by Japanese gamers ready to give Nintendo's vision of online gaming a try.
Here are the week's numbers:

---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Nintendo DS | 48,520 | 46,826 | 2,032,796 |

4 | Game Boy Micro | 9,349 | 11,656 | 328,039 |
5 | Game Boy Advance SP | 7,089 | 6,515 | 589,476 |
6 | GameCube | 3,290 | 2,931 | 172,241 |

8 | Xbox | 167 | 114 | 11,260 |
Overall sales were rather low for the week, and yes that is a pachinko game in the top slot. Still, the DS did very well for itself commanding half of the Top 10 led by new release Daredemo Asobi Taizen (very roughly translated as Collection of Games for Anyone), a large collection of popular "non-video game" games...er, that is to say, a compilation of popular games in portable DS form for the non-gamer crowd. It will be interesting to track its progress to see if it lives up to the sales power exhibited by other games in Nintendo's series for "non-gamers". Note the PSP edition of Brain Training snuck back into the charts as well, albeit behind the ever-popular DS version.
