Two new DS games debut on the charts for the week ending October 23rd. Rise, Princess! Rise!
Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan.
Hardware numbers saw no significant fluctuation, though the DS maintained its leading position. A slew of quality titles are right around the corner for the dual-screened wonder however and it will be interesting to see what impact the heavyweights such as Mario Kart DS will have on hardware sales. It should also be noted that Japan will actually be the last region to receive the game. Europe and the US are both slated to get it mid-November, Japan in December.
The week's numbers follow:

---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Nintendo DS | 44,283 | 44,262 | 1,937,450 |

4 | Game Boy Micro | 15,540 | 20,026 | 307,034 |
5 | Game Boy Advance SP | 7,389 | 9,707 | 575,872 |
6 | GameCube | 1,519 | 1,666 | 166,020 |
7 | Game Boy Advance | 396 | 431 | 21,645 |
8 | Xbox | 129 | 132 | 10,979 |
This week saw the release of a couple new DS titles that debuted to somewhat tame first-week sales. Pokemon Torouze, a Pokemon-flavoured puzzle game that has been likened to a cross between Zoo Keeper and Meteos, made a solid number two start. A bit disappointingly however, the new Nintendo platformer, Super Princess Peach, did not fare as well as many folks would have predicted for essentially a brand new Mario platforming sequel (heck, the re-rerelease of Super Mario Bros. sold like hotcakes!) Hopefully sales of the game will either increase or remain steady as aspiring new gamers/DS owners give it a try.
Another interesting debut came in the form of a new Brain Training title...for the PSP that is. Published by Sega, the PSP edition had decent sales but it will remain to be seen whether it can demonstrate the legs the DS version has and continues to show off (still hanging out at number 7 on the charts.)
