For the week ending May 22 a couple new DS games make their way into the Top 10...

Courtesy of Media-Create, we have the most recent sales figures from Japan. On the plus side, overall weekly sales of software saw more than a 130% increase from last week's sales. The bad news is that last week's sales were so abysmal that it didn't take much to beat it, and in fact this weeks overall sales continued to lag behind the yearly average.

On to the individual titles, the PS2 again was strong throughout the charts but the DS certainly made its presence felt as well by placing four games in the Top 10 alone. The week saw the debuts of both Bomberman DS and another one of Nintendo's specialized "non-game" games, this one being DS Training for Adults: Work Your Brain. The latter title has proved intriguing in hands-on impressions, which some likened as a more cerebral, adult-oriented WarioWare. Sales reflected the intriguing nature of the application coming in at second overall with nearly 43,000 units sold in its first 4 days. Our old friend Bomberman did not fare as well however, totalling a comparatively meagre 11,000 units. Bomberman's sales could perhaps be attributed to allegedly low Famitsu scores (said to be 26/40).

Also making its debut this week was the new GBA game Donkey Kong: King of Swing, which clocked in at number 7. Rounding out the other Nintendo offerings on the list was our new friend Nintendogs, though sadly last week would see cute little Chihuahua and Friends left behind at number 11 by its more popular brothers. Notably, next week's charts ought to reflect the release of a new Gundam game, this one for the DS.

On the hardware side, the DS rose again to the top slot selling nearly 30,000 units. PS2 and PSP were not far behind however.
