Charts: Latest Japanese Software & Hardware Sales

Numbers for the week ending May 8th. The DS, with Nintendogs, continues to power through the charts.
The sales for Golden Week in Japan are in, thanks to the data-gatherers from Media-Create. Interestingly, Media-Create commented that there was no considerable upward surge in total software sales for the holiday week, a somewhat disappointing surprise considering the sales trend of previous years.
Back to the individual numbers, there has been no great change in the Top 10 lineup, good news for Nintendo fans. DS titles continue to do their part in driving Japanese software sales, with the combined might of all three Nintendogs versions selling through another 64, 613 copies for a three week total of 314,304. Naruto and Touch Kirby continued with strong sales as well, with the latter making yet another return to the Top 10 after a week layoff.
Representing the GameCube, Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki also continued with healthy sales now totaling 137,765 since its release several weeks ago. The GBA closed out the top 10 with Rockman Zero 4.

The order hasn't changed any, but the DS continues to approach the PSP's year-to-date numbers and will surpass it with another impressive week like this one. The PSP remained robust alongside the PS2.
Also of interest is the relatively large upward spike in GBA SP sales for Golden Week, perhaps a reflection of a continued strong GBA software lineup combined with an inspiration on the part of the Japanese to take their gaming outside for their holiday week.
