Dandy Dungeon drifts onto Switch

There's no denying that Onion Games are a weird and wonderful developer, after releasing the bizarre but brilliant shmup known as Black Bird (which we'll be bringing a review of for you soon) they are now ready to bring you their latest game in the form of Dandy Dungeon ~ Legend of Brave Yamada~ to give its full title.

Here's the PR details and a trailer...

Yamada-kun (Age 36) is a programmer at a major game publisher. He hates his job. Alone in his apartment, deep into the night, he toils to create a game of his own: it's an RPG, and he is the hero, Brave Yamada! One day, he falls for his new neighbor Maria-chan. To nurture these feelings, adds Princess Maria into his game! Will they find love?

To clear a floor of a dungeon, use your controller or finger to draw a path to guide the Hero from the entrance to the exit. Use healing items and attack or defense spells with proper timing to keep the Hero alive and fighting! Clear all floors of a dungeon to get treasure! Clear all floors with a perfect path covering every square to get a big bonus!

Yamada-kun has implemented a brand-new, mysterious system! It's a worldwide leaderboard, to determine who is the best Yamada-kun in all parallel universes! Show the world which equipment works best to clear each dungeon with the top score! We're relying on you to show off your high score skills! Do you have the knowledge, wisdom and reflexes to be the world's top Yamada-kun?

Musician Keiichi Sugiyama’s unique mix of chiptunes and humming compliments Yamada’s retro-themed world perfectly! He is joined by Caorinho Fujiwara, composer of the Japanese theme song: “Gyakkou Zinsei” (Life Against the Tide), and the mysterious guest singer Nagasa Bonus, whose smooth voice flows over the chiptunes of the English version’s theme song: ”Retrograde life”.

What do you make of this rather wacky fantasy RPG? Could it be just what you're looking for? Or is the RPG you're looking for on another console or device?
