Iwata announced in last weeks Nintendo Direct that they'll be rolling out the 30 cents for 30 days campaign, a campaign that has a certain classic title go on sale for 30 days at the budget price of just 30c/30p.
Balloon Fight is the launch title for this campaign, and will be available for the reduced price of 30p until February 21.
The rest of games are as follows:
- F-Zero (SNES): February 20 - March 21
- Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES): March 20 - April 18
- Kirby's Adventure (NES): April 17 - May 16
- Super Metroid (SNES): May 15 - June 13
- Yoshi (NES): June 12 - July 11
- Donkey Kong (NES): July 15 - August 13
Once you have downloaded the titles, they will be yours forever, despite them going up to their normal prices after the specified dates. Not only does the campaign allow you to grab a few bargains but it also gives you an opportunity to sample the Wii U Virtual Console before it's officially launched.
Virtual Console titles on Wii U boast special features such as Miiverse support, GamePad play and save game restore points.
Sadly it seems that us Europeans will once again be playing titles in 50Hz, which means games will run with borders and be slightly slower than other regions.
