Marvel Enterprises have announced some promising figures and new titles at E3.
Marvel announced at E3 that they have sold 14.5 million Marvel-branded games worldwide in the past year. With new properties coming in the next few years, they expect this figure to increase to somewhere around the 30 million mark.
According to the company, seven new Marvel Character games are scheduled for release in the next 18 months with agreements with major software publishing houses -including Activision, THQ and EA. Among these games will be the much awaited sequel to the Spiderman Movie game released in 2002. Furthermore, movie tie-ins to the Fantastic Four and Iron Man (Go Shellhead!) movies currently in production and further X-man licences will see a very stron year and a half for the company.
Gui Karyo, Marvel President of Publishing, had the following to say:
"The performance of the Marvel brand in the interactive market is extremely impressive. As Marvel's video game pipeline continues to expand, we believe that the marketing power of this influential product category will fuel higher licensing income and consumer exposure for Marvel."
All in all, not bad at all for a company that was facing bankruptcy a few years ago!
