Nintendo are determined to prove themselves as their own company, one that is about games, not media.
During the conference Nintendo promised they are taking action now! "While other are talking, Nintendo are acting." they insist. They also stated they are planning to introduce new games to help bring in more casual gamers and make the GameCube have more wide appeal.
They also had some words to speak against Microsoft and Sony, but did not name their competitors.
They also showed that in Q4 2003 the industry dropped 9% and in Q1 2004 it dropped 5%. Nintendo however has rose 21% in Q4 2003 and 7% in Q1 2004.
In the last 12 months Sony has sold -28% consoles, Microsoft have remained the same while Nintendo has sold 41% more then the previous year.
After the GameCube was dropped in price last year. After 30 days the sales rose 50%, in 60 days 58% and 73% throughout the holiday season.
Nintendo stated that they believe that gamers want entertainment, familiar characters and cheap games, and they plan to do all that.
