A new E3 tech-demo shows the DS will allow you to talk with your DS-owning friends around the world via wi-fi!

Nintendo has revealed DSpeak, a new piece of software in development which will work over the Internet using WiFi and will allow you to effectively chat as if you were on the phone to others with the software, wherever they are in the world. Well, should save on the phone-bill.

Tiny earpieces with microphones attached clip onto your ear like a hands-free kit on a mobile phone and on the DS's upper display a Nintendo character (in the demo, Mario and Wario) is shown, their lips synchronised to the speech coming from the person on the other end of the conversation, looking like a more advanced animation of the sort used in the parrot mini-game on "Wario Ware Touched!"

There's been nothing said about an official launch but surely this technology will appear in some form soon as Nintendo ready their DS online debut for later this year.
