E3 2006: Booth Babes To Be Covered Up

Companies are being told to cover their models up, or face a $5000 fine. Outrageous? We think so too...

Meeting the booth babes are one of the many journalistic highlights of E3, and today we must bring you bad news. It seems from now on, the Entertainment Software Association who regulate the show will be enforcing stricter rules.

"Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show. ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable."

This has long been in the rulebook for E3, but until now it has mostly been ignored. From this year forth however, the ESA is getting serious. From now on, exhibitors will receive a verbal warning when a violation of the policy is encountered, then should another violation occur, the ESA will impose a $5000 penalty, payable immediately on-site. Ouch.

Show director Mary Dolaher commented that "E3Expo is first and foremost a business show, and policies such as this one help create an environment not only "where business gets fun", but where business gets done." Booooo.
